It all started with “The Dark Spot” in 2002. In the meantime, Axel Prahl and Jan Josef Liefers, alias Commissioner Thiel and Professor Boerne, have investigated the “crime scene” in Münster 41 times. For the round anniversary, twenty round facts about the duo infernale.

1. The Boerne really exists: forensic doctor Professor Bernd Brinkmann was the inspiration for this TV character, who was born in Hamburg in 1939 and was director of forensic medicine at the University of Münster from 1981 to 2007.

2. In the episode “Der Frauenflüsterer” (2005), Jan Josef Liefers and Anna Loos not only stood in front of the camera together, they also got married during the shooting.

3. When WDR 4 promised extra roles in September 2012 as part of the radio program “Hallo NRW”, more than 120,000 listeners reported.

4. In 2013, the federal association Lebenshilfe awarded the “Tatort” in Münster with a BOBBY for its exemplary commitment to dealing with people with disabilities.

5. In 2017, Guido Cantz and Liefers performed as part of the program “Do you understand fun?” on slippery ice – the moderator was lying on the autopsy table as a living corpse during the shooting.

6. In the case of “The Double Lott” (2005), the Cologne colleagues Max Ballauf (Klaus J. Behrendt) and Freddy Schenk (Dietmar Bär) had a guest appearance.

7. In the episode “Rhythm and Love” (2021), popular medical examiner Professor Michael Tsokos was supposed to have a cameo – but was cut out. With his RTL + series “Autopsy”, Tsokos would no longer have fit into public law. He didn’t find it funny at all and spoke of “censorship”.

8. The episode “Schlangengrube” (2018) was well cast: The female African penguin Sandy from the Allwetterzoo Münster was seen in a supporting role.

9. Ulrich Noethen was initially considered for the role of Professor Boerne.

10. The idea for the Münster “Tatort” came from Jan Hinter and Stefan Cantz. Cantz once wrote the screenplay for the film “Manta, Manta”. Hinter has been involved in more than 20 “Tatort” productions as an author.

11. Prahl and Liefers won a Golden Camera in 2011 as “best crime team”.

12. Christine Ursprechen had her breakthrough role in 2001 as Sams.

13. Claus Dieter Clausnitzer, who plays Thiel’s father, acted in a number of Loriot productions in 1976/77, including directing the legendary Lotto sketch with Heinz Meier as Erwin Lotte… er… Lindemann.

14. The guest stars who have been in Münster so far are also legendary, including Frank Zander, Roland Kaiser and Jörg Pilawa.

15. The Münster team is musically on the move away from the “crime scene”, Axel Prahl and Jan Josef Liefers with their own bands, Christine Ursprechen occasionally performs with a saxophonist.

16. In the video for Wir sind Helden’s “If it Happens”, Axel Prahl played a salesman.

17. Liefers played the researcher Alexander von Humboldt in his 1989 cinema debut “The Climbing of Chimborazo”.

18. Mechthild Großmann can be seen in the role of the public prosecutor, her place of birth: Münster!

19. Once again Mechthild Großmann: Your smoky voice doesn’t come from a box of Overstolz a day, it’s said to have sounded like that as a child.

20. In 2011 the Liefers in Prahl were allowed to sign the golden book of the city of Münster.
