148 baccalaureate graduates without assignment at the end of the procedure

The figure is decreasing but the future students concerned remain very worried. A total of 148 high school graduates, compared to 160 last year, are still unassigned following the Parcoursup procedure, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education indicated on Tuesday. Like every year, candidates who did not receive an admission offer were able to contact their academy’s access to higher education commission (CAES) to help them find training.

“The reduction in the duration of the admission phase and its increased efficiency have enabled the CAES to take on baccalaureate graduates without a proposal more quickly this year. To date, 148 high school students, the vast majority of professional high school students, continue to be supported by the CAES,” compared to 160 last year, the ministries write in a press release.

93.5% received at least one positive response

The CAES remain mobilized with universities and territorial stakeholders, partners of the rectorates, until the end of October to offer them a suitable solution, they emphasize. In total, 93.5% of baccalaureate graduates who expressed their wishes received at least one offer of admission, an increase compared to 2022, despite the greater number of registrants this year.

According to a survey carried out by the CSA institute for the two ministries among 1,000 new high school graduates on their perception of Parcoursup, waiting times are considered satisfactory for 73% of high school students, an increase of 5 points compared to 2022 and they are 76% said they were satisfied with the responses they received from the training courses. On the other hand, 83% of those questioned believe that the procedure is stressful.

A “continuous improvement process”

For the past year, both ministries have been working to reduce applicants’ sense of waiting and stress by generating offers to more candidates, sooner. “Parcoursup’s continuous improvement process will continue in 2024,” they assure.

Like last year, the Parcoursup site will be accessible for simple consultation from December 20 to access the training offer available in 2024. From January 17, students will be able to start registering and expressing their wishes on the platform, until March 14 at midnight. They will have until April 3 to complete their wishes and confirm them. Students will receive their first responses on May 30. The complementary phase (second chance and new places available) will open on June 11 and the main admission phase will end on July 12.
