14-year-old boy shot dead and two minors injured in city



A 14-year-old teenager was shot dead and two other minors, aged 8 and 14, were injured Wednesday evening in a city in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille, the prosecution announced on Thursday.

“There is the intervention of a motorcycle with a priori two people armed with at least one assault rifle, Kalashnikov type, who fired (…) in the street,” said the prosecution. “A 14-year-old was killed and two were injured”, a youngster of the same age and an eight-year-old child, the latter having been lightly wounded. The two people on motorcycles fled.

An open investigation

The facts occurred in the city of Marronniers, in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille, one of the most deprived of the city. The investigation was handed over to the federal police.

Several homicides by gunshot have taken place in recent months in the second largest city in France in cities and neighborhoods affected by drug trafficking. Eleven people have officially died since the start of the year in settlements, according to figures from the police headquarters in mid-August.
