100th Melbourne game
Djokovic in the round of 16 at the Australian Open
Novak Djokovic is slowly getting going at the Australian Open. For the first time this year he doesn’t give a sentence.
Defending champion Novak Djokovic reached the round of 16 at the Australian Open without much trouble.
The world number one from Serbia clearly won in Melbourne against the Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6:3, 6:3, 7:6 (7:2) and, unlike in the previous two rounds, was hardly challenged. The 24-time Grand Slam tournament winner converted his first match point after 2:28 hours.
For Djokovic (36) it was his 31st win in a row in his 100th game in Melbourne. He won the tennis spectacle on the Yarra River in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023. In 2022 he was not allowed to play in Melbourne due to the lack of a vaccination against the coronavirus.
