Zverev dethrones Medvedev and takes second Masters

The revenge of Bercy. Dryly beaten by Medvedev in the semi-finals of the Paris tournament in early November, world number 3 Alexander Zverev relentlessly dethroned the Russian, defending champion, 6-4, 6-4, Sunday in the final of the Turin Masters. The German wins his second title in this competition which brings together the eight best players of the season.

The victory concludes a particularly prolific season for the 24-year-old German, who has won six titles this year, including Olympic champion in Tokyo this summer. In the semi-finals, Zverev beat world number 1 Novak Djokovic, in search of a 6th Masters title, which would have allowed him to equal Roger Federer’s record.
