Zoë Kravitz confirms that the nightclub clerk she plays, Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, is bisexual on The Batman.

Her version of nightclub worker Selina Kyle/Catwoman in “The Batman” is actually bisexual, actress Zoë Kravitz (33) confirmed now in conversation with “Pedestrian”. Kyle/Catwoman flirts with Robert Pattinson, 35, as Batman, but at one point she calls a female companion named Anika “Baby.” “They had a kind of romantic relationship,” Kravitz explains. “It’s definitely the way I interpreted that.”

And director Matt Reeves (55) added: “As far as her relationship with Anika is concerned, I spoke to Zoë very early on. One of the things she said that I really liked was that Selina was attracted to ‘strays’ because she was one herself. And because Anika is one too, she really wants to take care of them – and she loves them.” There is an “intimate relationship” between the characters, but also an “enormous and deep care”.

Learn from cats

Zoë Kravitz also shared how she prepared for the role. To create the physicality of her performance, she studied feral cats like herself “Empire” told: “We watched cats and lions and saw them fight and talked about what’s actually possible when you’re as big as me and Batman is so much stronger than me. What are my special skills? I’m fast and tricky,” says Kravitz. As a result, an interesting floor technique was developed, “which includes various martial arts, capoeira and a kind of cat-like, dancing movement”.

“The Batman” – with Catwoman as “Femme fatale” – opens on March 3 in cinemas.
