Zinedine Zidane is reportedly a favorite to succeed Pochettino at PSG

Mauricio Pochettino is still firmly in the coach’s saddle at PSG. Nevertheless, feelers should already be stretched out for a successor.

Zinedine Zidane is Paris Saint-Germain’s first choice, should the current coach Mauricio Pochettino leave the club. This is what the Paris daily newspaper reports Le Parisien. According to the report, Zidane has been approached at least once by the capital city club in recent months.

The former French international and 1998 world champion would come across a squad in which he already knows many players, including Angel Di Maria, Keylor Navas and Sergio Ramos. He also enjoys the respect of star striker Kylian Mbappe, according to Parisien, which could possibly be a key factor in his decision to continue in Paris.

PSG not the only option for Zidane

Zidane is keen to return to the sidelines after leaving Real Madrid last June. However, he reportedly turned down an offer from Manchester United.

His name has also been associated with the French national team, although there is no guarantee that current national coach Didier Deschamps will stop after the 2022 World Cup and that Zidane could then replace him.
