Zinedine Zidane admits: I would have loved to play for this club

Zinedine Zidane had an extremely successful playing career. In retrospect, however, he would have liked to have kicked a club.

Former world footballer Zinedine Zidane has admitted that he would have liked to play for the traditional French club Olympique Marseille during his playing career.

“During my career I have not regretted it because I was busy and played for clubs where I was good,” said the world and European champion Le Phoceen. “But in retrospect it is already true. I was in the stands at Marseille at a young age. I have said for a long time that it is my dream to play there.”

Zidane was born in Marseille and continues to be a fan of OM. “I want to see Marseille win today too,” continued the 49-year-old.

Zidane on OM: “There will always be regrets”

According to Zidane, a move to his heart club was only possible at the beginning of his career, but it did not become concrete at the time. “There will always be this little regret, but that’s just the way it is. Even if I’ve never played for OM, nobody can deny that I’m from Marseille,” he concluded.

In France, Zidane played for Cannes and Girondins Bordeaux. He then spent his most successful time at Juventus Turin and Real Madrid.
