In three new episodes of his format “ZDFbesseresser”, Sebastian Lege also takes a close look at restaurants for the first time.

Sebastian Lege (44) uncovers the methods of the food industry again – for the first time also in restaurants. In the new episodes of his documentary series “ZDFbesseresser: Sebastian Lege reveals” on March 14 at 8:15 p.m. on ZDF, the chef and product developer takes on “The Tricks of Asian Restaurants”. A week later, on March 21, “Die Tricks der Deutschen Restaurants” will follow at prime time.

Asian snack and local cuisine

For the Asian restaurants, he takes a close look at various snack bars. The chef tests dishes such as spring rolls or popular pasta boxes. Unfortunately, prefabricated products are often used – this is the only way to have more than 100 dishes on a menu. Duck meat is offered in many Asian restaurants, but Lege also shows the downsides here. Because animal welfare often suffers from the preparation method – and the kitchen tradition. It doesn’t look much better for German restaurants. Some tempt with home cooking, but then finished products end up on the plate.

But before Lege puts the restaurants through their paces, he uncovers “The Tricks of Haribo, Ferrero & Co” on February 28th. He recreates sweets and shows, among other things, how cheaply Ferrero Raffaello is made. He also takes a close look at how many animal products are contained in the treats.

All three documentaries are already available in the ZDF media library.
