You’ve never heard the national anthem like this before: premiere – Bavaria

You’ve never heard the German national anthem like this before. The cast alone suggests something unusual for the premiere of the “Haydn Variations” on Saturday, November 4th, 7:30 p.m., in the parish church of St. Michael in Schwabmünchen (Augsburg district). The Langerringen Music Association plays there together with two soloists who couldn’t be more different: René Giessencomposer and harmonica virtuoso, and Julien Chappot, solo cellist at the Augsburg State Theater.

Giessen, born in Prague in 1944, wants to bring post-war history to life with the theme from Joseph Haydn’s “Imperial Quartet”, which became the national anthem as the “Song of the Germans”. In a kind of radio play, Haydn’s melody flirts with boogie-woogie sounds, competes or merges with Hanns Eisler’s GDR national anthem, until at the end you even think you can hear the chants of “We are the people.” Request tickets by email to [email protected].
