What do galaxies look like whose light takes billions of years to reach Earth? Science still knows surprisingly little about this. A group of researchers has now investigated the question of what spatial shape such distant galaxies have: the scientists have analyzed around 4,000 galaxies. They are all witnesses to the early universe, their light coming from a time between 600 million and six billion years after the Big Bang, which, according to the theory, occurred around 14 billion years ago.
