After the Islamist terrorist attacks of November 13, 2015 in Paris, the Facebook post of a Frenchman whose wife had been murdered went viral. She had been to the Bataclan theater where three terrorists stormed a concert and shot 89 people. Three days later, Antoine Leiris addressed his words directly to the assassins. “On Friday night you took the life of an extraordinary being, the love of my life, mother of my son, but you won’t get my hate.” He didn’t want to react to her actions with anger or distrust – his answer was to raise his son to be a free and happy person. His post has been shared thousands of times Le Monde got him on the front page, reported in newspapers around the world.
