Real phone harassment. Since February, a woman residing in Brest (Finistère) suffered a veritable torrent of hatred from her ex-companion. For nearly three months, the respondent used and abused his phone to try to bring back his partner with whom he was in a civil partnership. Aged 51, this man without a profession went so far as to call his victim 25 times a day, hoping “a possible resumption of their relationship”, according to Camille Miansoni, public prosecutor of Brest. Far from any romanticism, the suspect mainly used insults and degrading remarks against his victim by sending him up to 100 text messages in the same day. “You are dead and I piss on your corpse”
The man did not stop there and threatened his ex-girlfriend with death by sending her messages. “If I don’t get my daughter back, you’re dead.” Or: “If you do not reconsider your decision the consequences will be disastrous”. And finally: “You’re dead and I’m pissing on your corpse”. The respondent also threatened to broadcast “compromising videos” of the victim. He also saw fit to send some photos of his sex. Faced with this harassment, the woman was the victim of an “alteration of her physical or mental health” which caused her an ITT of four days, specifies the prosecutor.
Brought on Thursday, May 11 before the prosecutor following the “guilty plea” procedure, the man was sentenced to eight months in prison with a probationary suspension of two years.
