Yasmin Fahimi: After 70 years, the first woman at the top of the DGB – economy

The way to the top begins in the trade union district of Recklinghausen. Yasmin Fahimi was 33 years old when she started in the youth department in 2001. “I was a career changer, an academic and a woman. That was a provocation for some,” says Fahimi. Of course, she saw male macho appearances, there and later: “Some thought they had to teach ‘the girl’ what proper union culture is.”
