XXL ice slab: Finn builds a huge ice slab

Watch the video: XXL ice slab – Finn builds a huge ice slab.

The Finn Janne Käpylehto cut a gigantic sheet of ice on a lake in Finland and made it rotate. The disk is 516 meters wide, 42 centimeters thick and weighs an estimated 78,000 tons, about 1.5 times as much as the Titanic, he says.
The writers and inventors had help. 30 helpers pitched in and sawed an exact circle in the frozen lake with chainsaws and special circular saws. It’s not the Finn’s first ice cream carousel. He has been building the rotating ice discs for years. And they keep getting bigger. A few years ago, Käpyletho set his first world record with a 184 meter wide carousel. Two Americans swept the world record with an even bigger circle. Now the Finn could score again. By the way: The Americans came especially to help Käpyletho with his new world record. Hats off for so much team spirit. This huge sheet of ice is brought into motion with cars. In order to draw attention to the situation of the Ukrainian population, he now built a carousel in a freely rotating wider circle, in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. His next project: a carousel with a diameter of more than one kilometer.
