Xavier Bertrand will go through the LR box, the “France 2030” plan unveiled and school violence

Did you miss the early morning news? We have concocted a recap to help you see more clearly.

In his race to the Elysee Palace, Xavier Bertrand played the strategy change card on Monday evening. He announced on TF1 that “yes”, he would submit to the vote of the LR activists at the congress responsible for appointing the right-wing presidential candidate in 2022. His objective is to “bring together” his political family. The candidate explained this turnaround by the fact that “The Republicans have ruled out the primary”, even if, he admitted, “the easy way out was to go it alone”.

It’s the new buzzword: reindustrialization. The Covid crisis has brought to light dependence on France (and from Europe) to production chains located in Asia. The executive has therefore found the solution: we must develop industries of the future in France, to regain some economic sovereignty. Emmanuel Macron should say a little more this Tuesday, with the launch of “France 2030”. An investment plan of around thirty billion euros to “bring out in our country and in Europe the champions of tomorrow”, as he explained in July. Several industrial sectors deemed to be strategic have already been identified: hydrogen, semiconductors, nuclear or even electric batteries.

Entrusted to the Melun police station, the investigation for violence in a school in Seine-et-Marne is progressing. Three high school students were taken into custody on Monday in connection with the viral video of the assault of a teacher, violently thrown to the ground on Friday by a student. These young people from the Jacques-Prévert vocational school in Combs-la-Ville, “the one we see on the video and two who filmed”, have been in custody since Monday afternoon, said the prosecutor of Melun Béatrice Angelelli , confirming information from M6. The main suspect is an adult, the other two minors. Posted on social media, the video was viewed more than 1.6 million times on Monday.
