When delusional mentally ill people commit serious crimes, different rules must apply to them than to healthy people. But that doesn’t mean that the judiciary makes it easier for them.

It is hard for people who have been harmed by a criminal. The process is often their last hope that their suffering will at least be recognized by the rule of law. Many victims want to face the perpetrator in court. But what if those eyes appear dead? Hazy from psychotropic drugs that enable the mentally ill defendant to think clearly and attend the trial in the first place.
