A 38-year-old man got off the platform at the Stachus S-Bahn station early Monday afternoon, the federal police said on Tuesday. The apparently heavily intoxicated man approached an incoming S-Bahn line S7 in the direction of Wolfratshausen and wanted to get on, but fell in the area of the coupling between two parts of the train on the track. According to the police, he probably mistook the gap between the two cars with an open S-Bahn door because of his alcoholism.
Other passengers pulled the 38-year-old back onto the platform together with a platform supervisor, notified the emergency services and provided first aid until they arrived. The man suffered moderate rib injuries and abrasions and was treated in a Munich clinic.
Video recordings show that third-party negligence and criminal acts can be ruled out, the police said. The accident resulted in minor disruptions to the operation of the Munich S-Bahn.
