World stock markets panic over fears of Russian oil embargo

Towards a black Monday on the markets? The main European stock markets opened sharply lower on Monday, following Asian markets, destabilized by soaring energy prices. The CAC 40 sank by 4.94% shortly after the opening to evolve well below 6,000 points to 5,756 points at the lowest. Elsewhere in Europe, the Dax dropped 4.18% in Frankfurt, and the FTSE lost 1.85% in London.

The Parisian index now shows losses of more than 20% compared to its historic record of January 5. In financial jargon, we speak of a bear market.
