World Happiness Report 2024: These are the 10 happiest countries in the world

Every year, when the world celebrates happiness on World Happiness Day, the World Happiness Report shows where the happiest people live. This year, too, the top ten consists predominantly of European countries – the Scandinavians in particular seem to have established a pronounced sense of well-being in society.

While Germany is only in 24th place this year, Finland is topping the list for the seventh time in a row. We show you the ten happiest countries in the picture gallery.

World Happiness Report: How is happiness measured?

What does it actually mean when a country ends up at the top of the ranking? The authors of the representative report conduct surveys in a total of 156 countries worldwide in which participants are asked about their individual perceptions.
