The women’s doubles won by a small margin at the Toboggan World Cup in Winterberg. There are two Austrians on the podium in the women’s single-seater.

Julia Taubitz has at homeWorld Cup in Winterberg narrowly missed their third win of the season, but defended their lead in the overall World Cup. The 27-year-old finished second in the single-seater competition, 29 thousandths of a second behind Madeleine Egle from Austria.

“I would like to thank all the doctors and physios who brought me here,” said Julia Taubitz, who was in poor health. “Now I feel comfortable on my sled again.” Hannah Prock, another Austrian, came third just ahead of world champion Anna Berreiter from Berchtesgaden.

The world champions Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal won the doubles competition at the start. Despite a driving error, the duo prevailed with a lead of 24 thousandths of a second over the Italians Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer. “The way it shook us up a bit, I didn’t believe in it anymore,” said Jessica Degenhardt.

The Austrians Seline Egle and Lara Michaela Kipp came third (0.044 seconds behind) ahead of fourth-placed Dajana Eitberger and Saskia Schirmer. The second German duo was 0.105 seconds behind the winners. “We are not dissatisfied,” said Dajana Eitberger, who switched from a single-seater to a double-seater at the start of the season. Looking at the good results at the start of the season, she said: “You have to expect that the established ones will simply be at the front.”

For 21-year-old Jessica Degenhardt and 23-year-old Cheyenne Rosenthal, it was the second win of the season after their success in Whistler, Canada. The Toboggan World Cup in Winterberg ends on Sunday with the men’s single-seater races and the team relay.
