North Macedonia’s national team has been preparing for the World Cup play-off final against Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal since Sunday evening on the Douro. In the same hotel that Chelsea FC moved into last year when they won the Champions League with Thomas Tuchel against favorites Manchester City, and from which you have a fabulous view of downtown Porto. “That’s a good omen,” says defender Visar Musliu, 27, who has been playing for second division club FC Ingolstadt since January. Musliu was one of the best players on the pitch in North Macedonia’s sensational last-minute win over Italy in Palermo (1-0, goal by Aleksander Trajkovski). And was a guarantee that the country, founded in 1991, can hope for the first World Cup participation in its history.
