Julia Taubitz and Max Langenhan won the overall World Cup early. For Langenhan it is the first overall victory, Taubitz was crowned toboggan queen for the fourth time.

World Champion Max Langenhan secured the overall World Cup in luge for the first time.

The 25-year-old finished third in the single-seater race in Sigulda, Latvia, and can no longer be pushed off the top of the overall standings before the last two races, also because his biggest competitor Jonas Müller from Austria crashed. Three-time Olympic champion Felix Loch won the day with his first win of the season ahead of Latvian Kristers Aparjods.

On Saturday, five-time world champion Julia Taubitz won the overall World Cup for the fourth time. The sprint races are still on the competition program in Sigulda on Sunday.
