You can also rely on Andreas Wellinger in team competitions. For Karl Geiger, however, things are currently not going as planned. However, the Oberstdorfer remains confident.

Led by Andreas Wellinger, the German ski jumpers took part World Cup in Poland took third place in the team competition.

Wellinger, Karl Geiger, Stephan Leyhe and Pius Paschke had to admit defeat in Zakopane to the victorious Austrians led by top athlete Stefan Kraft and the second-placed Slovenians.

In the first team competition this winter, Four Hills Tournament runner-up Wellinger jumped 138.5 and 137.5 meters. With his second attempt, the 28-year-old saved the German quartet’s lost place on the podium as the final jumper.

Things weren’t going so well for Wellinger’s teammates three days after the World Cup in Szczyrk was canceled due to strong winds. Geiger and Leyhe each had a weak jump. The Oberstdorf violinist jumped to 119 and 133 meters. Leyhe landed after 131.5 and 122.5 meters.

“We have high quality, but we have to use it,” said Geiger on ARD. “We always have to struggle a bit, but we have to get through it.” The Oberstdorfer emphasized: “We are a good team.” He stated: “Fortunately, things can quickly go in the other direction.”
