The German toboggan team dominates the World Cup in Oberhof. The competition only has three wins in eight races.

Oberhof remains a place of success for the German toboggan team. At the World Cup in Thuringia saw 14 podium finishes in eight races over the weekend, including five victories. Two alone went to Julia Taubitz.

The Oberwiesenthal native secured success in the single-seater and the sprint within three hours. This meant she took the lead in the overall World Cup again before the final two World Cup weekends in Sigulda. “I have to thank the coaches who kept giving me tips on how to drive here. I’ve really had a hard time here in the past,” said Taubitz after her World Cup successes number 25 and 26.

In the sprint, World Cup leader Max Langenhan achieved the first home victory of his career. The Thuringian relegated his long-term rival Jonas Müller from Austria, against whom he narrowly lost in the singles the day before, to second place. “I have no idea where I was able to ignite the turbo. It’s amazing that I was finally able to give something back to the many helpers with a win,” said Langenhan.

The Hannes Orlamünder/Paul Gubitz doubles also celebrated a home win in the sprint ahead of the Austrians Thomas Steu/Wolfgang Kindl, who had won the day before ahead of Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt. This time the Olympic champions came third in the sprint. In the women’s doubles, Dajana Eitberger/Saskia Schirmer were narrowly defeated by the Austrians Selina Egle/Lara Kipp in the sprint. On Saturday the Germans celebrated their first World Cup victory.
