After the next absence due to illness, the German biathletes can only compete in an emergency relay at the World Cup in Hochfilzen.

After the next absence due to illness, the German biathletes can only take part in an emergency relay World Cup in Hochfilzen.

As the German Ski Association announced a few hours before the race in Austria (2.15 p.m./ARD and Eurosport), Sophia Schneider will also not be available at short notice. The 26-year-old is suffering from symptoms of infection and therefore cannot be used. Franziska Preuß and Hanna Kebinger had previously both dropped out after a corona infection.

This means that only a skeleton crew can be sent to the start at the end of the World Cup in Pillerseetal. Since Anna Weidel is also unable to work for health reasons, Marion Wiesensarter was ordered to Hochfilzen at short notice. The 28-year-old from Bavaria hasn’t played in the World Cup this winter and now suddenly has to replace Schneider in the German quartet.
