World Cup – France-Argentina: Gérald Darmanin calls on the prefects to strengthen the security system for the final

Gérald Darmanin called on the prefects on Friday to “make sure to strengthen” on Saturday and Sunday the security system put in place on Wednesday during the semi-final of the World Cup.

In a telegram read by AFP, the Minister of the Interior insists on the “principle” to be retained for the match for third place (Croatia-Morocco) on Saturday, and the final (France-Argentina) on Sunday, at namely: “authorization of festive gatherings and dispersal of those who would commit disturbances to public order”.

He recalls the device presented the same morning to the Paris police headquarters: 12,840 police forces on Saturday throughout the territory, including 2,450 in Paris, and 14,000 on Sunday, including 2,750 in Paris.

“For each of these two events, approximately 55 mobile forces are made available to you, which corresponds to a very high level of commitment,” he wrote.

The Minister also encourages the prefects to “ensure the proper implementation of the security measures implemented with regard to ultra-right individuals or small groups likely to commit violence against people or disturb the public order”.
