Biathletes in the mass start in Oslo without a top ten place

Germany’s biathletes appear weak in the mass start at Holmenkollen. Sophia Schneider only made it to 18th place. The victory in Oslo surprisingly went to a Swiss woman.
The German biathletes have World Cup in Oslo disappointed in the mass start without a top ten place. As the best of a quartet, Sophia Schneider only finished in 18th place after three penalties.
In the victory of the Swiss Lena Häcki-Groß (2 errors), the 26-year-old Bavarian was 1:28.0 minutes behind after 12.5 kilometers. The French Julia Simon (4) secured second place ahead of her strong running compatriot Lou Jeanmonnot (3).
The second best German was individual vice world champion Janina Hettich-Walz (4) in 20th place, the only 21 year old Johanna Puff (3) made it to 23rd place. In the absence of Franziska Preuß, who was still missing due to illness, Vanessa Voigt (5) came in Field of 30 starters only in 25th place.
One day after her sixth place in the individual, Voigt was in the top group at the start. A flawless first shooting means third place behind a Swedish duo. Three penalties in the second prone stage quickly threw the Thuringian far back – and things got even more bitter.
The 26-year-old is actually one of the best shooters in the field, but things didn’t work at all in the rain and wind. In the end, Voigt only crossed the finish line after five penalty laps, almost three minutes behind.
