After her corona infection, things are running again for biathlete Franziska Preuß. Seventh place in Lenzerheide. A French woman excels again.

Thanks to four strong shooting performances, biathlete Franziska Preuß has the first place World Cup weekend ended with another top ten placement after her corona illness.

The former world champion missed the podium in seventh place in the mass start due to a weaker performance on the cross-country ski trail by just over half a minute. Olympic champion Justine Braisaz-Bouchet ended up at the top, also finishing the last race before the Christmas break without any mistakes. The Frenchwoman won all three races in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. Second place went to the Swede Elvira Öberg (2 shooting errors) ahead of her older sister Hanna Öberg (2).

“I’m very satisfied, also generally with the first trimester. I had few expectations and if someone had said to me that seventh place was my worst placement, then I would have signed that straight away,” said Preuß in a ZDF interview.

Vanessa Voigt was well in the race until the standing stop, but then missed twice and fell back to 21st place. Teammate Janina Hettich-Walz had to do three extra laps and finished in 23rd place.
