The World Conference on Nature begins in Montréal, Canada, in just under six weeks. It is intended to mark a turning point towards responsible treatment of the earth and its living beings. The preliminary negotiations were difficult. Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke (Greens) reports what she can do to ensure that the conference is still a success – and how she wants to prevent the extinction of species in Germany in times of war and energy crisis from being forgotten.
