World Championships in Athletics: Weber misses a medal – German World Cup debacle! | Sports

The World Cup debacle is perfect!

The German team cannot win a single medal at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. Javelin thrower Julian Weber (28), who has the last chance for German precious metal on the final day, also gets nothing.

The man from Mainz ends up in fourth place with 85.79 meters. Weber is 88 centimeters behind third place.

Czech Jakub Vadlejch (32) secured bronze with 86.67 meters. Second is Arhsad Nadeem (26) from Pakistan (87.82 meters), world champion is the Indian Neeraj Chopra (25/88.17 meters), who won the 2020 Olympics.

This is the first time that the German team has not won a medal at a World Championships!

Team captain Christopher Linke (34) on ZDF: “It also makes me sad that we didn’t win a medal in the end.”

And further: “You know, people work differently in the world, professionally. Here in Germany, especially in my case, I can speak, sometimes under very amateurish conditions I have to prepare myself. But we have very good offspring who always win a lot of medals at the youth championships. You just need time.”

Apparently some things have to change for our track and field athletes before the Summer Olympics in Paris next year…
