Hurdle sprinter Amusan after suspension without World Championship medal

The suspension of Nigeria’s hurdles star Tobi Amusan caused a stir ahead of the World Cup. In Budapest, the defending champion goes away empty-handed. It’s exciting in the long jump.
100m hurdler Tobi Amusan has lost her title at the World Athletics Championships after being suspended. The Nigerian had to settle in Budapest was content with sixth place in the final in 12.62 seconds.
Amusan was suspended for violating pre-World Cup registration requirements, but the temporary ban was lifted last week. Danielle Williams of Jamaica took the win in 12.43 seconds ahead of Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico (12.44) and Kendra Harrison (12.46) of the USA.
Tentoglou is crowned world champion
Long jump Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou crowned himself world champion for the first time in an exciting competition with his last jump in Hungary’s capital. At 8.52 meters, the Greek passed Jamaican Wayne Pinnock. Previously, both had managed 8.50 meters, but Pinnock’s next best attempt was an inch further. His compatriot Tajay Gayle won bronze (8.27). Tentoglou missed World Cup gold by four centimeters last year.
The men’s 400m race was won by Antonio Watson of Jamaica in 44.22 seconds. Matthew Hudson-Smith (44.31) from the UK finished second ahead of the American (44.37).
Bol wins hurdles
Femke Bol from the Netherlands made up for the mishap in the mixed relay by winning the 400 meter hurdles in 51.70 seconds. There she fell in the finish sprint for gold. Defending champion and world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone from the USA was injured.
Canadian Camryn Rogers won the women’s hammer throw with 77.22 meters after her compatriot Ethan Katzberg had triumphed in the men’s. Defending champion May Brooke Andersen from the USA and Poland’s multiple world champion and Olympic champion Anita Wlodarczyk were surprisingly eliminated in the qualification.
