Germany’s discus throwers were not able to intervene in the medal fight at the World Athletics Championships as hoped. The Olympic silver medalist Kristin Pudenz from Potsdam was sixth with 65.96 meters and was the best of the three German finalists.

Shanice Craft (Halle/Saale) finished the decision in Budapest with 65.47 meters in seventh place. Claudine Vita (Neubrandenburg) was tenth with 63.19 meters.

Surprisingly, the title went to the American Lalauuga Tausaga, who overtook the favorite with a personal best of 69.49 meters in the fifth round. Until then, the American Olympic champion Valarie Allman had led, who threw the discus to 69.23 meters. Last year’s Chinese world champion Feng Bin won bronze with 68.20 meters.
