Every time Wolfgang Herrndorf repaired a bicycle tube, he remembered a similar procedure that his father had once shown him in the basement at home. Herrndorf writes in his blog “Work and Structure” that he was never able to finally secure the valve without thinking of his father’s words: “If it slips back in, it would all be in vain.”
