Everything went wrong for the VfL Wolfsburg footballers. The game in Hoffenheim was lost and captain Popp had to go out injured. Now the club is giving the all-clear.

Contrary to initial fears, national soccer player Alexandra Popp from VfL Wolfsburg did not suffer a serious injury in the Bundesliga game at 1899 Hoffenheim.

An MRI scan in the morning revealed “no structural injury to the knee.” Popp could even start training again in a few days, the Wolfsburg team said.

The 32-year-old captain of VfL and the German national team may even be fit again in time for the Bundesliga top game against league leaders and defending champions FC Bayern Munich next Saturday. Popp was injured in the 1-2 defeat in Hoffenheim without any opposition and had to be substituted in the 34th minute.
