For almost a year, the RBB has been in a tailspin due to the Patricia Schlesinger scandal, and money has been raised en masse thrown out, for example for bonuses. There is now a new form of throwing out under successor Katrin Vernau: RBB will no longer produce a fictional series in 2024 and will not tax a Wednesday film in the first – i.e. no longer play in the most important places for fictional storytelling. Also the RBB Talk Thadeusz and the Observers will be deleted. It gives the impression that the RBB is not exactly saying goodbye to all ambitions that go beyond the creative subsistence level. What’s going on internally in terms of chaos can be measured quite well by the reports on the literary program with Sophie Passmann, which has just started. First it said on Wednesday in an email from RBB, “Studio Orange with Sophie Passmann was a pilot season that will not be continued”. After 6 p.m. the broadcaster then sent an email: “Studio Orange will not be discontinued”, there was an “error made in the press release, which we are sorry for”. Rather, it is another season Studio Orange planned for this year. It can go that fast.
