With her first novel “Anger and Envy”, Alice Renard wins the Méduse Prize

This is the first award for the 2023 literary season. Alice Renard with her novel Anger and envy (Éditions Héloïse d’Ormesson) won the second edition of the Méduse prize, its jury announced on Saturday.

Even before its publication, scheduled for August 24, the first novel by Alice Renard, a 21-year-old literature student, finds herself in the spotlight of the 2023 literary season. It tells the story of Isor, a mute child and on the sidelines until he meets a neighbour, Lucien, in his seventies. Their chemistry will be broken a few years later by an accident and the mysterious flight of Isor to Sicily, who then discovers the world.

A prize endowed with 5,000 euros

Diagnosed early at the age of six, Alice Renard is particularly interested in the question of neurodiversity and hypersensitivity, specifies Editis, parent company of Héloïse d’Ormesson editions, on its “Read” site.

The Méduse prize, which will be awarded at a ceremony in Paris on August 31, is endowed with 5,000 euros and a work by the artist Nicolas Lefebvre. Chaired by David Freche, its jury is made up of Anne Berest, Raphaël Haroche, Lilia Hassaine, Marc Lambron, Simon Liberati, Thibault de Montaigu, Maria Pourchet, Vanessa Schneider, Bruno de Stabenrath, Gaël Tchakaloff and, this year, Charlotte Gainsbourg.

The most important awards of the fall will publish their first selection in September, to be presented between the end of October and November.
