Wissam Ben Yedder, French international and AS Monaco striker, targeted by a rape complaint

The French international of Monaco Wissam Ben Yedder is the subject of a complaint for rape, Agence France-Presse learned Thursday, July 13 from the Nice prosecutor’s office. The facts would have occurred at the beginning of the week on the Côte d’Azur, according to the same source.

The public prosecutor of Nice, Xavier Bonhomme, announced “the existence of two rape complaints, and two victims, targeting two people”including the Monegasque footballer, for facts which “would have been committed Monday in Beausoleil”a town in the Alpes-Maritimes department, confirming initial information from France Info.

No hearing or custody at the moment

According to France Infotwo young women aged 19 and 20 accuse Wissam Ben Yedder, the other his brother, of having imposed sexual acts on them “after an evening spent all four on July 10 in Beausoleil”. According to our colleagues, no hearing or custody of the respondents has yet taken place.

Aged 32, Ben Yedder made his debut in professional football in Toulouse before joining the Spanish club Sevilla FC in 2016. Back in France in 2019, under the colors of AS Monaco, he has 19 caps in France team, for which he scored three goals.

In April, he was sentenced by the Seville court to a 6-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 133,798.70 euros for tax evasion.
