It is a pleasure to see you again, as the saying goes. So it is not surprising that at least the lawyers of the accused in the Wirecard trial greeted each other in a friendly manner on this rainy Wednesday morning in the underground courtroom of Stadelheim. “Hello, everything alright?” Asks Nico Werning, one of the lawyers for ex-boss Markus Braun – and addresses this question to the defense attorneys for Oliver Bellenhaus, Wirecard’s former governor in Dubai and today the prosecution’s key witness. Before the summer break, the teams from Braun and Bellenhaus at the district court in Munich were still fighting, some of them violently.
