The man was a phantom. His name, James Henry O’Sullivan, his date of birth, November 1, 1974, and his nationality, British, were known. A few photos were circulating on the Internet, sometimes in front of a private jet, then smiling in a rickshaw or at the counter of a bar. But what he really did, how he appeared in the background, where he had earned how much money and which companies he had in the realm of Payment service provider Wirecard remained hidden. So far, O’Sullivan has not answered any questions. At the beginning of 2020, for example, KPMG consultants asked him for an interview during a special audit at Wirecard. The corporate management had previously described him as a man of “unquestionable integrity”, calling him a “veteran”, as if you couldn’t get around him. But O’Sullivan just didn’t speak.
