Andreas Wellinger took seventh place in ski flying in Oberstdorf. The 28-year-old flew 221.5 and 215.5 meters on the Heini-Klopfer ski flying hill and is still in third place in the overall World Cup ranking.

The Austrian Stefan Kraft secured victory ahead of Peter Prevc from Slovenia and the Japanese Four Hills Tournament winner Ryoyu Kobayashi.

Wellinger was the only German who was able to keep up with the front runners at the spectacular flying event in the Allgäu. On Saturday he finished sixth.

Teammate Karl Geiger, on the other hand, had a very bad weekend in his hometown. The 2020 ski flying world champion landed in 29th place on Sunday. The day before he had even failed to qualify. The second best German behind Wellinger on Sunday was Pius Paschke in 17th place.
