Bobsleigh pilot Kalicki doesn’t like the track in Sigulda at all. Now she holds the track record. Even the head coach has to joke.

With a track record in the second run, world champion Kim Kalicki pushed the two-man bobsleigh Olympic champion Laura Nolte out of first place and won the World Cup in Sigulda, Latvia. With her Winterberg pusher Leonie Fiebig, Kalicki from Wiesbaden won with a lead of 0.04 seconds.

The 26-year-old set a track record in 50.66 seconds. Kalicki had emphasized in advance that she absolutely did not like the track in Sigulda. “The good start time saved us. The rides were okay, but still far from good,” she said after the race. Head coach René Spies said with a smile: “Now she will discover her love-hate relationship with the track.”

The woman from Winterberg who was in the lead after the first run Nolte only achieved the third-best time in the final run, but secured second place with pusher Claudia Schüßler (MSC Magdeburg). Lisa Buckwitz from BRC Thuringia completed the German triple success in third place with Vanessa Mark (Eintracht Frankfurt).

This Sunday there will be another two-man bobsleigh race in Sigulda, and the European Championship title will also be awarded parallel to the World Cup.
