William Cohn is dead – media

The speaker, actor and singer William Cohn is dead. He died last Thursday in Basel at the age of 65. His management confirmed this to the news portal t-online. Television viewers knew William Cohn primarily as announcer and sidekick of entertainer Jahn Böhmermann.

He was in almost every episode of “Neo Magazin Royale”, the predecessor of Böhmermann’s current show. In the program “Circus HalliGalli” by the comedians Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, Cohn made guest appearances again and again. His death came as a surprise to “everyone,” said his management. Nothing has been announced about the circumstances so far.

Cohn, whose bass voice is well remembered by anyone who has heard it, was particularly popular with young viewers. “His ugly sweater, his nerdy glasses and his pointed texts helped him to break through as Jan Böhmermann’s (…) sidekick,” said his manager Gerd Fischer about Cohn’s TV career. But his showpiece during his artistic life was the role of a scheming arms dealer in the successful musical “Ludwig²”. “Now he has left the stage that meant so much to him forever.”
