The infamous, edited photo of Princess Kate causes amusement for the Dutch king. Willem-Alexander jokes about it.

The Princess Photoshop fail is also common in other royal families Kate (42) topic of conversation. He even served the Dutch king as a template for a little joke.

King Willem-Alexander (56) used the PR disaster surrounding the edited picture of Princess Kate for a funny saying on the sidelines of a public appearance on Tuesday (March 12th) in Zutphen. There the king was asked by a child about a photo of the Dutch royal family and replied: “It wasn’t photoshopped.” This caused a few laughs in the group, as seen in a video on X, formerly Twitter.

With his joke, King Willem-Alexander directly referenced a picture that Princess Kate posted on Instagram for British Mother’s Day on March 10th. It can be seen on it the princess with her three children, George (10), Charlotte (8) and Louis (5).

Editing sparks questions and speculation

However, the photo was subsequently edited, as can be seen in some prominent areas. Therefore, it was withdrawn by major news agencies shortly after publication due to suspicion of manipulation – and subsequently sparked questions and speculation about the princess’ health.

Following the uproar, Kensington Palace released a statement from Kate on March 11 in which the princess apologized for the “confusion” and admitted: “Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally experiment with editing.” This statement again caused a stir – and the question of whether the princess had even written it herself.

Princess Kate has withdrawn from the public since her abdominal surgery in January – about which there is little further information. The photo of Kate was the first to be posted on the heir to the throne couple’s Instagram account since the princess’s operation.
