Why not a “Christophe Galtier” street in Lille? – 20 Minute Editing

  • After the title of French Champion of Losc, the coach, Christophe Galtier announced his departure from the club.
  • An elected rebellious France of a municipality associated with Lille will submit a wish for a street in the city to bear the name of the coach.
  • According to him, it is about marking the occasion of this historic moment.

Sunday, the Losc won the 4th title of Champion of France in its history. A victory shortly followed by the announcement of the departure of the Lille coach, Christophe Galtier to sunnier horizons. His work for four years within the club has been unanimously praised, especially as his northern stopover ends in the most beautiful way. It is a bit for all this that Lucas Fournier, elected LFI of the opposition in the town of Hellemmes, wants the name of the famous coach to be given to a street in Lille.

“This is a very serious proposal, I am going to make a wish to this effect at the next Hellemmes municipal council which will take place at the end of June”, insists Lucas Fournier. Behind the political, and perhaps even in front, we feel the soul of the supporter: “We must mark this historic moment just as much as the sporting performance. And this victory, in this period of health crisis, is something that we needed ”, continues the elected official.

“It could even arouse vocations”

And, in his approach, Lucas Fournier wishes to immediately demine any criticism. “Yes, he is a professional athlete in a discipline plagued by money. But giving the name of a trainer to a street or municipal equipment is a beautiful symbol. It could even arouse vocations, ”he explains.

So, does his wish have a chance of leading to something concrete? Nothing is less sure. Deposed in the municipal council of the associated municipality of Hellemmes, it will then have to reach the Lille municipal council. “There is no reason that it does not work, the city of Lille has done a lot to encourage Losc and celebrate the victory”, pleads Lucas Fournier. In the meantime, the elected representative is already imagining his street “Christophe Galtier” on the side of the old Grimonprez-Jooris stadium, the former setting of Losc.
