Will Europeans soon no longer be allowed to cash in in Russia? – Politics

The EU is discussing the next package of sanctions. Among other things, Berlin is demanding that EU citizens be banned from accepting well-paid posts in Putin’s empire — a lesson learned from the Gerhard Schröder case.

In the future, EU citizens should no longer be allowed to sit on the supervisory board or executive board of Russian state-owned companies. At least that is what the federal government demands. The ban is said to be part of the next package of sanctions against Russia; the proposal can be found in a discussion paper that Berlin sent to the other EU governments and that the Süddeutsche Zeitung present. It would then no longer be possible for someone like former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder to have been the head of the supervisory board at the Russian oil company Rosneft for years.
