Devlet Bahceli, 75, leader of the Nationalist Action party, partner of Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s AKP party, has he committed a slip that will cost the president his re-election? On Saturday evening, Devlet Bahceli, during the last campaign meeting in Antalya, pronounced the word “kiss” in its rawest form instead of “shake”.
At the end of his speech, in his always vehement style, he began to list Western male names supposed to represent the foreign powers which, he assures, would plot to overthrow the head of state. “Hans, Sam, Tony, Johnny, Hergel, Frank… Even though all of them tried to shake Recep Tayyip Erdogan…”, he began. But it was the verb “kiss”, which differs only by one letter from the word “shake” in Turkish, that he finally uttered. Devlet Bahceli is, like Edouard Philippe, a regular at slips.
A slip that has gone viral
“Even if everyone tried to fuck Recep Tayyip Erdogan, they wouldn’t succeed. The child of Anatolia Recep Tayyip Erdogan is worth them all”, he therefore hammered. “For that reason, when you go to the polls on Sunday, slap Hans, kick Sam and head butt another. Destroy them and say Recep Recep Recep at the polls,” he continued.
The video of the slip by Devlet Bahceli, an ally of Recep Erdogan for the race for the presidency and parliament on Sunday, immediately went viral on social networks. “Devlet Bahceli made a superb closing which corresponds to the whole of the campaign of his camp”, quipped the Turkish journalist Mirgun Cabas in a tweet.
