The telecommunications and network engineer, graduated fromEnseeith Toulouse began his career as a “benevolent” computer hacker by revealing security flaws in government sites and applications but also in certain phones like the Wiko. “I have worked a lot on Indian cyberspace, a little bit American but also French. I found a security vulnerability in the interministerial application called Chap. In the United States, I also denounced a security problem in a dating application between Republicans when Trump was in power,” says Baptiste Robert, around ten years after his beginnings in hacking.
At the bedside of parliamentarians
At 35 today, the Toulouse resident who has never left his region of heart wants to make his skills much more useful to the French. Screwed behind his glasses with his computer scientist look, the founder of PredictaLab has never been very far from politics. “It turns out that throughout this journey I meet a lot of people from this world, in order to advise, warn, explain all the dangers linked to digital technology. Over the last ten years, I have really been at the bedside of these parliamentarians to try to put forward ideas. »
But from the blue light of his computer to that of the legislative elections, there was only one step left for Baptiste Robert. The dissolution of the National Assembly after the results of the European elections was this.
“I told myself that after years of counseling, maybe it was time to take the plunge. There are very few parliamentarians who are interested in the subject and even fewer who master it. There is a real need to have people who understand the subject and its issues. Digital technology is spilling over into a whole bunch of subjects, a bit like ecology. They are everywhere: it is the sector which hires the most. It’s also a question of education, with social networks in particular… It’s a subject that allows us to talk about a lot of things and which requires the presence of people who know about it. »
An express, label-free campaign
We then set off for an express campaign in the 3rd constituency of Haute-Garonne. But there is no question for the business leader to label himself with a party. If he wants to be more center left, this brand new candidate in politics does not want to get into the game of campaign tactics. “When we go to the markets today, people talk to us about a mess, about this mess, we don’t understand anything. The idea of presenting ourselves without a label, below all these parties, is to assert our ideas: to defend questions of private life and give the State the means to defend us. We are committed to a balance. There is something playable and doable beyond all this cinema. »
