will a Frenchman win for July 14? Follow with us the 13th stage between Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne and the Col du Grand Colombier

Warren Barguil in 2017, David Moncoutié in 2005, Richard Virenque in 2004, Laurent Jalabert in 1995 and 2001, Laurent Brochard in 1997… Like them, all French runners must dream, on Friday July 14, of adding their name to the list of tricolor winners on National Day on the Tour de France. The stage started at 2 p.m. and the riders have 137.8 kilometers to do it and believe it, between Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne (Ain) and the mythical Grand Colombier pass (Jura). Follow with us the 13th stage in our live.

The Col du Grand Colombier holds no secrets for Tour de France riders. After 2012, 2016 and 2017, it hosted a finish of the Grande Boucle in 2020. The Grand Colombier, one of the most difficult passes in France, also saw a finish of the Tour de l’Avenir in 1980 and the Tour de l’Ain in 2011. That year, Thibaut Pinot had confirmed his status as a great hope by winning the stage.

From the flat then from the neck. The Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne – Grand Colombier section is a fairly short stage. The first 75 kilometers will be played on the flat. Two passes will then be climbed, the last of which, the Grand Colombier, extends over nearly 18 kilometers with an average gradient of 7.1%.

No French winner on July 14 for six years. Warren Barguil (Team Sunweb) distinguished himself on July 14, 2017, at the end of the 13th stage, between Saint-Girons and Foix.
