OP drama about Wildecker Herzbuben

Darling, your leg will soon be whole again.

Wilfried Gliem (76, 110 kilos), singer of the Wildecker Herzbuben (“Herzilein”), has had a health odyssey. Since June he has been in the hospital almost without interruption for 13 weeks – because of a chronic wound on his left foot (Ulcus Cruris).

The singer underwent a total of eight operations, ending with a skin transplant. He now has to learn to walk again.

Gliem to BILD: “It started with a small wound between the heel and ankle. My doctor said the leg ulcer needed treatment. That’s when I first came to the hospital.”

Wolfgang Schwalm (68, left) and Wilfried Gliem have formed the Schlager duo “Wildecker Herzbuben” since 1989. Her biggest hit “Herzilein” stayed in the German charts for 41 weeks

After three weeks he was released. But the wound caught fire. Gliem: Dead tissue was forming. I had to go back to the hospital.”

Big bad luck! During the second stay in the clinic, Gliem also caught Corona and came to the isolation ward. Gliem: “The wound was persistent and it took a long time for the inflammation to go away.”

Only then could a skin transplant be performed. “A piece of skin was removed from the sole of my foot and the wound closed with it. The hole in the sole of my foot was then closed with a piece of skin from my thigh.”

Gliem can’t walk yet, but can sing all the louder. He promises: “In January I want to be on stage.”

Before that, however, he has to go to the clinic again for a few “rework”.
